Deep OSAKA Tour

Last week, I walked around Osaka with my seminar classmates and people from another university.
< Thank you very much for showing us around the city!

Korea Town
-> Okinawa town
-> Kamagasaki
-> Janjan yokocho
-> Tobita-shinchi

*Korea Town
There are some signs written in Korean.
Korea Town is a little far from Tsuruhashi station. The market around the station is called "Kokusai Ichiba (International market)". Korea Town is now activated because of the Korean pop culture boom in Japan.

*Taisho-ku
Many people from Okinawa prefecture are living in this area. There are many Okinawan foods in the shopping street.

*Kamagasaki
Wider streets and many people riding bicycle. People glare at us. It's a completely different world from the one we had been walking through.
Day laborers are gathering in this area. There are many cheap inns. At around 17 o'clock, men started drinking at open-air stand bar.

*Janjan yokocho
There are kushikatsu restaurants. Some people were playing Igo and Shogi (Japanese boad games).

*Tobita-shinchi
This area used to be a licensed prostitute quarter. Inside the "show windows", girls are sitting in the pink and strong spotlights. By their side, elder lady speaks to men walking through.
We had dinner at the restaurant called "Tobita-hyakuban". This building has wonderful rooms having different stories. Now you can see the rooms freely, but Yujo (prostitutes) could not go out from their own rooms in the past.

Osaka has many faces. I found this to join this tour. Because Osaka was important to develop Japan's industry, people came to Osaka. Because different people gathered in different areas, and because it was difficult for different people to be involved in other cultures, Osaka had many faces. And there are still differences.
...Why have not I noticed the differences?
